RQG * Presentation of the Game
Runequest is an ancient fantasy role-playing game set in the world of Glorantha, where magic, religion, and cults play a crucial role. Characters are defined by their traits and skills, with no specific class or level, and can learn and use various skills as well as magic, regardless of their origin.
Characteristics and Skills
Skill System: The game uses a percentage system (1d100) to determine the success of character actions. Skills can be learned and developed by all characters, without class restrictions.
Lack of classes: There are no traditional character classes like warrior or wizard. All characters can fight and use magic, even peasants.
Importance of background: Characters are influenced by their origin, in particular the profession of their parents, which gives them basic skills and other particularities.
The World of Glorantha
Social Structure: Characters belong to clans, which are part of tribes, which themselves may be part of kingdoms or empires. Traditions, languages and pantheons vary by region.
Cult and Religion: Magic is closely linked to religion, and almost everyone is a member of theistic or animist cults. Religious hierarchies are significant, ranging from simple initiates to rune lords.
Pantheons and Deities: Each region worships a specific pantheon (Air, Fire, Moon, Earth, Sea, Darkness) with its own traditions and beliefs.
Technology: Comparable to Earth's Antiquity, but with iron rarer than gold, making bronze the most commonly used alloy.
Creatures and Enemies
Diversity of Races: Besides humans, there are elves (plants), trolls (linked to darkness), dwarves (unbelieving wizards), centaurs (worshiping nature), mermen (worshipping the sea) and many others.
Chaos: The world's great threat, Chaos seeks to destroy Glorantha. It has its own gods, unholy cults, and creatures like Broos and Vampires, as well as many dangerous monsters.
Magic and Magic Items
Ubiquitous Magic: Magic is everywhere and accessible to everyone, with common magic items. Characters can create enchanted items if they have the correct religious status.
Magic Items: Magic items can be created by acolytes, clerics, or wizards, and vary in complexity and power.
Scenarios and Adventures
Community and Issues: Scenarios generally involve characters being part of a community and having to solve problems that affect it. The issues are often linked to the survival and protection of their clan or tribe against various threats.
In summary, Runequest is a game rich in lore and depth, where each character and each adventure is influenced by the culture, magic, and religion of Glorantha, offering a unique and immersive gaming experience.

RQG * Sartarites Family History
I created a game help (in French and in English) concerning the Background of the characters: the story of the
Grandparents (with an Exceptional Grandparent), parents (an Exceptional Parent), and the character's personal history with several options (historical (as in the rules), religious, local and travel); plus an overhaul of starting skills for characters to give a bit more % in different skills.
The idea being to smooth the backgrounds so that they are more homogeneous between simple random draws and direct player choices each year.
